Introduction

Over the last two years, we have generated as much data as we did over the previous 5,000 years, and the volume of data worldwide is set to increase sevenfold in five years’ time... Dubbed the ‘new black gold’ and the fuel of the digital economy, data has become a source of wealth for companies that know how to process and capitalise on it.

Faced with this exponential growth in data volumes, businesses of all sizes and across all sectors, consultancy firms, public organisations, local authorities and associations have no choice but to define and implement a strategy to manage their data: collecting, organising, storing, updating, securing and utilising data to improve their organisational performance.

Based on an educational approach combining multidisciplinary teaching, projects and practical experience, aivancity’s MSc in Data Management enables students to address the opportunities and challenges raised by the proliferation of data across all sectors of the economy and all areas of our society.

aivancity’s MSc in Data Management aims not only to provide mastery of the entire data management cycle (acquisition, retention, cleaning, sorting, securing and analysis), using the best tools and techniques, but also to understand the challenges this poses within organisations (decision-making support, data-driven business models, customer/user relations, understanding of business processes, etc.) as well as their legal and ethical implications (protection of personal data, data governance, etc.).
