Master’s degree, accredited program, RNCP Level 7: Understanding the credentials that really matter—in France and internationally—to choose a reputable AI program.
aivancity awards a five-year post-secondary degree accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education, RNCP Level 7, conferring the degree of Master’s. This combination is unique for a program entirely dedicated to artificial intelligence and data science. aivancity owns all of its RNCP credentials—designed specifically for its programs, not borrowed from a third-party certifying body.
In France, there are several different accreditation systems for higher education programs. It is important to understand what each one actually offers—and what it does not guarantee.
National academic accreditation granted by the Ministry. Equivalent to the Master’s level in the European 3-2-5 system. Widely recognized in France and internationally.
A university-level degree awarded by the Ministry. It does not automatically confer a master’s degree, but may be associated with one. Renewable following evaluation (1 to 6 years).
Professional accreditation by France Compétences. Essential for work-study programs, the CPF, and OPCOs. Check whether the school owns the accreditation or merely “leases” it.
Reserved for the title of "diplômé d'ingénieur" (graduate engineer). Automatically confers a master's degree. A historically French model, widely recognized in France but less so abroad.
An engineering degree and a master’s degree both confer the same academic recognition at the five-year post-secondary level within the European LMD system. The difference lies elsewhere.
In most countries—Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe—the standard academic degree at the five-year post-secondary level is the “Master’s.” The Master’s degree awarded by aivancity is immediately recognized by international recruiters, partner universities, and doctoral programs abroad—where the legitimacy of a “French engineering degree” often requires further explanation.
Not all schools are treated equally under the RNCP. There are two very different situations:
The school has developed, submitted, and had its certification approved by France Compétences. It has full control over the curriculum’s content, assessment, and updates. This is the case with aivancity, which owns all of its RNCP certifications, designed to be fully aligned with its AI training programs.
The school signs an agreement with a certifying body to use its designation. It must adhere to an external set of standards, which limits the flexibility of the curriculum. Risk: a generic RNCP designation (e.g., “Project Manager”) is used for a specialized AI training program, even though the designation does not truly correspond to the intended profession.
Each RNCP certification has an official description specifying the targeted skills. Make sure the certification matches the advertised specialization—a generic certification may be recognized but may not be relevant to AI recruiters.
Model design, algorithms, distributed systems, MLOps, deployment.
Organizational transformation, AI project management, economic impact, ROI, strategy.
Societal impact, algorithmic bias, acceptability, regulation, AI Act compliance.
AI is a truly global field. Skills and credentials must be as well.
It is precisely at the intersection of technology, management, and the humanities that aivancity has built its Grande École Program. Whether through full-time, work-study, or part-time programs in Paris-Villejuif and Nice Côte d’Azur, students acquire the key skills to design, manage, and deploy high-impact AI solutions—earning a degree recognized in France and internationally.
| Type of recognition | What this guarantees | International readability | To be verified |
|---|---|---|---|
| Master's degree ⭐ key | Academic equivalence for a master's degree (3-2-1 system) | ✅ Universal — accepted everywhere | Degree to be awarded and academic rank conferred |
| Ministry-approved diploma | Verified academic quality | 🔶 Varies depending on the associated rank | A visa alone ≠ a master's degree |
| RNCP Level 7 | Vocational level, work-study program / CPF | ❌ Hard to read outside France | Current titleholder? AI specialist? |
| CTI Accreditation | Bachelor of Engineering degree + automatic Master’s degree | 🔶 Very popular in France, a model specific to other countries | Accredited AI school and program |
| aivancity PGE | Certified + Master's Degree + RNCP N7 holder | ✅ Universal (LMD) | — |

What is the difference between a certified diploma and a diploma conferring a master’s degree?
Ministry approval certifies the academic quality of a program, but does not automatically confer a Master’s degree. It is this degree that guarantees national and international academic equivalence with a university Master’s degree. It is therefore important to verify that the diploma is both approved and confers a Master’s degree —as is the case with aivancity’s Grande École Program.
Why is a master’s degree more widely recognized internationally than an engineering degree?
The CTI-accredited engineering degree is a historically French institution. In most countries—Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe—the standard five-year degree is the “Master’s.” The Master’s degree fits directly into the universal LMD system, making it immediately recognizable to recruiters, universities, and doctoral programs abroad.
What is an RNCP "proprietary" credential, and why is it important?
Some schools issue their own RNCP certification (registered and certified by them with France Compétences), while others “lease” a certification from a third-party certifying body through an agreement. A proprietary certification guarantees that the content is designed to align with the training program and the targeted profession. A generic, leased certification may be officially recognized but may not be relevant to recruiters specializing in AI. aivancity owns all of its RNCP certifications.
Why does AI require a hybrid education rather than just a technical one?
AI is a cross-disciplinary field that spans technology (algorithms, models, systems), management (organizational transformation, ROI, project management), and the social sciences (ethics, bias, regulation). Purely technical programs produce skilled technicians; hybrid programs produce professionals capable of creating value in real-world and international contexts.
What career paths are available after earning a recognized master's degree in AI?
Machine learning engineer, data scientist, AI engineer, data engineer, AI consultant, AI product manager, generative AI expert, digital transformation lead, AI project manager—these are all roles in which recruiters in France and around the world now expect candidates to combine technical, business, and ethical expertise.
