From UNESCO to Medical Innovation
At aivancity, the leading school for Artificial Intelligence and Data, some student projects go far beyond the traditional academic framework.

They become technological explorations that examine the future of society, healthcare, accessibility, and responsible innovation.

The journey of Vishal Nelaturi, a student in MSc Data Engineering & Cloud Computing at aivancity, fully exemplifies this new generation of hybrid professionals: talent capable of leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced engineering, and intelligent systems to address concrete human challenges.

Through his involvement in international discussions with UNESCO on the future of higher education and the development of an ambitious technological project in the medical field, Vishal embodies a deeply multidisciplinary, humanistic, and forward-looking vision of innovation.

An international immersion experience in partnership with UNESCO

As part of the international event organized byUNESCO IESALC entitled:

"Launch of the Higher Education Global Trends Report: A Deep Dive into Higher Education Data, Systems, and Policies"

Vishal Nelaturi participated in strategic discussions bringing together researchers, academic institutions, international experts, and policymakers to address major shifts in global higher education.

This international conference aimed to examine the profound changes taking place in education systems in response to current technological, societal, and economic developments.

Topics covered include:

  • the impact of artificial intelligence on education,
  • changes in international academic policies,
  • the strategic use of data in education systems,
  • new educational models in the digital age,
  • as well as issues of accessibility and inclusion in higher education.
Through this experience, Vishal was able to deepen his understanding of the role of smart technologies in building the systems of the future.
An approach that directly reflects aivancity’s philosophy: to develop talent capable of understanding technology while taking into account the human, societal, and ethical dimensions of innovation

M.E.D.I.S.: A Project Combining Advanced Engineering, AI, and Access to Healthcare

Alongside this international experience, Vishal is currently developing an ambitious technology project: M.E.D.I.S. (Modular Emergency Drug Intelligent Synthesizer), a modular pharmaceutical formulation platform that is currently in the advanced research stage and for which a French patent application has already been filed.

The project lies at the intersection of:

  • smart systems,
  • electromechanical engineering,
  • microfluidics,
  • artificial intelligence,
  • cloud and embedded systems,
  • as well as research on access to medical care.
The ambition behind M.E.D.I.S. is particularly strong:
explore how smart modular systems could, over time, help make access to medicines more resilient in environments where medical or logistical infrastructure becomes limited or unstable.

A reflection born of the fragility of the real world

One of the key findings that led to the project concerns the vulnerability of medical supply chains when:

  • natural disasters,
  • geopolitical conflicts,
  • humanitarian crises,
  • or in remote areas with limited infrastructure.

It was in response to this issue that the vision for M.E.D.I.S. was born.

The project thus aims to explore how future modular, smart, and wearable systems could contribute to more adaptable and resilient medical architectures.

A multidisciplinary technology architecture

From a technical standpoint, M.E.D.I.S. combines several advanced disciplines:

  • embedded systems,
  • electronics,
  • electromechanical control,
  • artificial intelligence,
  • microfluidics,
  • AI-assisted validation,
  • as well as precision dosing systems.

The project is based on a modular architecture organized around several subsystems:

  • cartridge and tank systems,
  • pre-dissolution modules,
  • microfluidic network,
  • volumetric dosing systems,
  • quality control sensors,
  • and an embedded intelligent orchestration layer.

Among the elements already discussed:

  • a synchronized multi-syringe system,
  • precision electromechanical metering mechanisms,
  • an embedded control architecture,
  • as well as initial implementations of smart monitoring.

The project also includes considerations regarding:

  • anomaly detection,
  • automated quality control,
  • sensor-based monitoring,
  • and future validation mechanisms powered by artificial intelligence.

A responsible and rigorous approach to innovation

Unlike many technology projects that prioritize speed to market, Vishal takes a deliberately gradual, structured, and responsible approach.

The project is currently at TRL 3 (Technology Readiness Level 3), which means that it remains a research and technical validation program at this time, with no immediate clinical applications or medical deployment.

This approach is based on several principles:

  • phased validation of subsystems,
  • rigorous risk management,
  • modular architecture,
  • proactive regulatory planning,
  • and sustainable development.
A philosophy that is particularly rare among young tech entrepreneurs.

A project designed for extreme environments and the future

Beyond terrestrial applications, M.E.D.I.S. also opens up new avenues of research in the following areas:

  • humanitarian missions,
  • rescue operations,
  • isolated environments,
  • polar bases,
  • military operations,
  • but also future long-duration space missions.

In particular, the project explores issues related to:

  • the degradation of medications,
  • logistical constraints,
  • to operational isolation,
  • or storage limitations in extreme environments.
A futuristic vision that harnesses technological research to enhance human resilience.

Recognition as part of the "Butterfly 2050 — France 2030" initiative

The project’s potential was also recognized in the national “Butterfly 2050 — France 2030” competition, where the initiative advanced through several qualifying rounds.

This selection underscores the validity of Vishal’s vision as well as the project’s long-term growth potential.

Work on M.E.D.I.S. continues today with a clear goal: to develop medical technologies that are more accessible, adaptable, and resilient for the most complex environments.

Training architects to lead the way in tomorrow's technologies

Vishal Nelaturi’s career path fully embodies aivancity’s mission: to train hybrid professionals capable of understanding, designing, and managing advanced technologies in a way that is practical, responsible, and people-centered.

In the MSc in Data Engineering & Cloud Computing program, students develop advanced skills in:

  • data engineering,
  • cloud computing,
  • smart systems,
  • distributed architectures,
  • AI,
  • cybersecurity,
  • and complex technological infrastructure.

But beyond the technical aspects, aivancity also promotes a deeply humanistic approach to innovation.

A vision embodied today by students who are able to turn technology into concrete solutions that address the major challenges of our time.

AI at the service of humanity

Through M.E.D.I.S., Vishal Nelaturi is not merely developing a technological architecture.

He explores the future of access to healthcare, the resilience of healthcare systems, and the role that artificial intelligence, smart systems, and advanced engineering can play in the societies of tomorrow.

An approach that perfectly illustrates aivancity's vision:

Technology that is useful, thoughtful, responsible, and deeply people-centered
