Committing to a Different Way of Learning: A Look Back at a Year of Civic Engagement at aivancity

aivancity × impact campus

At aivancity, learning about artificial intelligence and data isn't limited to classrooms, technology projects, or real-world business applications.

Training AI experts, but also responsible citizens

Training the talent that will design the smart systems of tomorrow also means raising their awareness of the human, social, and societal realities that accompany technological transformations.

With this in mind, aivancity continues its Civic Engagement program, an initiative that enables students to get actively involved with impact-driven associations and organizations working on causes of public interest.

149engaged students
55volunteer assignments
28partner organizations
2,800+hours of volunteer work

For the 2025–2026 academic year, these initiatives focused on solidarity, inclusion, and support for the most vulnerable populations.

Initiatives Addressing Key Social Issues

The initiatives carried out this year covered a wide range of topics: combating poverty, youth support, assistance for refugees, support for the elderly, social inclusion, health, and the environment.

Combating Precariousness43.8%

Youth Support17.5%

Support for Refugees15%

Beyond the numbers, these projects offer students the opportunity to discover realities that are often far removed from their daily lives and to develop a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by many people.

Encounters That Change the Way We See Things

Among the many testimonials collected this year, some particularly illustrate the impact of these experiences. One of the students involved says:

“During a mission, we had the opportunity to speak with someone living in precarious circumstances who turned out to be the former founder of what had once been a promising startup. That encounter left a deep impression on me. It reminded me just how quickly a person’s life can change overnight, even when everything seems to be going well. Beyond the help we provided, this experience taught me humility, how to listen, and the importance of never judging a person based on their current situation.”

This type of encounter perfectly illustrates the program’s goal: to enable students to develop a human understanding of social issues while strengthening their ability to listen, empathize, and adapt.

Partner organizations committed to supporting students

Once again this year, many organizations supported the students in their projects. Among them:

Delarue Refugee Food Serve The City Paris 1 Letter, 1 Smile The Ballad of the Fireflies Paris Anim’ & many others

These partnerships make it possible to offer a variety of projects tailored to students’ interests and the needs of local communities. They also demonstrate aivancity’s commitment to building lasting relationships with the nonprofit and community-based sector.

A Lasting Impact on Students

The feedback collected at the end of the assignments demonstrates the positive impact of this approach.

96%of students rate their experience as “good” or “very good”
89%wish to continue volunteering after their assignment

Civic engagement then ceases to be merely an educational experience and becomes a habit—and sometimes even a long-term commitment. Several students point out:

"I've learned that a smile is essential—people need it."

"These assignments helped me grow; they gave me confidence."

"Getting involved really made me feel like I was making a difference."

Essential Human Skills in a World Transformed by AI

While students develop advanced skills in artificial intelligence, data science, and innovation throughout their studies, civic engagement also allows them to strengthen skills that have become essential in organizations:

  • communication;
  • teamwork;
  • leadership;
  • adaptability;
  • understanding of social and cultural issues.

These human qualities complement technical expertise and help shape professionals who are capable of thriving in complex and ever-changing environments.

Recognition of Partner Organizations

The program’s impact is also praised by the organizations themselves. The organization Ô Cœur de la Rue notes in particular:

“Just like last year, everything went very smoothly. Some students even continue to come by outside of the program to take part in our activities and maintain the connection they’ve built with the organization. It’s a real pleasure to welcome young people who are motivated, committed, and eager to help others.”

This recognition attests to the quality of the students’ commitment and the effectiveness of a teaching approach that places people at the heart of the educational experience.

Training theIEngineers® of Tomorrow

At aivancity, we are convinced that the future of artificial intelligence does not depend solely on mastering technology. It also depends on the ability of future professionals to understand the impacts of their decisions, to take ethical and societal issues into account, and to use their skills for the common good.

Through the Civic Engagement program, aivancity continues to pursue its mission: to trainIEngineers® capable of combining technological expertise, an understanding of organizations, and social responsibility.

Because artificial intelligence needs skills.
And society needs commitment.
